This is my first major hurricane that is coming near home. I was in a mindset to see that everyone I loved was safe. When it was all done and there was no power, so I really had to show leadership. That is what fathers needs to do; to make sure that your child and children understand what is going on.
They are not used to being without air conditioner, electronics, or TV. Honestly some adults are not used to it either. However being a dad we find ways to keep the family together. So we broke out the grill, candles and board games until the power was back on. Dads, this is also a teaching moment for you to teach your kids to appreciate life and the things they have been given by you.
